Swim School

Children holding swimming certificates

For children 3 years upward.

For those children who have been through the Parent and Baby / Toddler course there is a natural progression into the mainstream Swim School. Once they reach their 3rd birthday they can move up into the preschool lessons without their parents. With their inbuilt confidence and newfound freedom they are able to further investigate the wonders of water, and go from strength to strength.

All lessons in the swim school are designed to be fun while teaching correct techniques and skills. With her sympathetic nature, Jan specialises in nervous swimmers, but can also pass on her expert knowledge up to a competitive level of swimming. Jan is also involved with many of the local schools providing expert tuition and co-ordination for the schools swimming scheme.

Children holding swimming certificates

Any child over 3 years will be welcomed into the swim school providing there are spaces available. They will be slotted into the correct group dependent on their previous swimming experiences (if any) and ability. The swim school follows the Amateur Swimming Association (ASA) National Swim Awards Curriculum including the Duckling Awards for the younger children. The ASA is the governing body for swimming in the UK. All the children are treated as individuals, but have the fun of being in a group environment.

Although in huge demand, one to one and one to two lessons are available from 3 years upwards. Obviously these lessons are more intense, so are kept to a 15-20 minute duration. The advantage of having a one to one lesson is that the lesson can be geared around the child, to work on their weaknesses, so they become a balanced swimmer.
